Best AI Automation Agencies in the UK (2026)

An AI automation agency designs and builds AI that does real work inside the systems a business already runs: it reads the inbound email, updates the CRM record, checks the document against the rules, and raises or routes the ticket. A pack of prompts or a chatbot demo is not automation. This guide ranks seven AI automation agencies for UK buyers in 2026, using public evidence from each firm's own website, reviewed on 12 October 2026. &above publishes this guide and ranks itself first. The method and the source for every entry are below, so you can check the order yourself. No firm paid for a place.
What "AI automation agency" means in 2026
The label now covers two different kinds of business. Some AI automation agencies connect off-the-shelf tools with a workflow platform, then hand over a set of triggers and prompts. Others build AI into the systems of record: the CRM, the ERP, the ticketing queue, the approval workflow, and the legacy APIs behind them. Both have a place. For mid-market and enterprise buyers, the second kind usually matters more, because the costly manual work tends to sit inside those systems and their rules.
A practical definition helps. An AI automation agency is worth hiring when it can take one repetitive, costly process, map its rules, build AI into the place where the work happens, prove the result against real data, and leave a named person accountable once it is live. Each step can be checked. A firm that can show you a live system, the integration behind it, and the owner after launch is doing automation. A firm that can show you a demo and a slide about agents has not shown that yet.
Three questions separate the two in a first call. Which system does the automation write to? Who reviews the cases the AI cannot decide? Who owns it six months after go-live? A good AI automation company answers all three without a follow-up meeting.
How we ranked this shortlist
To qualify, a firm had to publish an AI automation, agent, or AI implementation offer that a UK buyer can use. We then ordered the firms on four criteria, in this order of weight.
Production proof comes first. A named, live system with a measured result on the firm's own website counts most. A pilot, a blueprint, or a prototype counts for less, and a claim with no public evidence gets no credit. UK presence comes second: a UK office or registered address on the firm's own website. Engagement model comes third: who does the work, whether they sit inside your team, and how the scope is set. Ownership after the build comes fourth: what the firm says about handover, monitoring, and who answers for the automation once it is live.
We used only each firm's own public website, and we attribute every company claim to the company. We did not use review scores, awards, or directory rankings, and we left out prices. Few firms publish them, and quotes for different scopes do not compare well. This is an editorial ranking, not an audit. Each firm's website may have changed since our review.
The shortlist: best AI automation agencies in the UK (2026)
1. &above - automation built by AI engineers embedded in your team
&above is an AI agency based in Southwark, London, for scale-ups and enterprises. Automation is one of its three pillars, alongside agent development and AI software. The model is simple: we hire the AI engineers, we manage them, and they work embedded in your team, in your standups and your repositories, against a scoped workflow. When the harder question is what to build, product managers and designers join the same team. The forward-deployed engineers page explains the model. The services page explains the route: workflow design or a workshop to find the process worth automating, a proof of concept on sample data, then embedded delivery.
The production proof is public. For Google Cloud, &above built the Gemini Sales Sidekick, an agent system that connects Cloud's Sales Hub, Salesforce, and the intranet in one tool. The case study reports 5,000 monthly active users and a 64% time saving against a sample manual time. For Tesco Retail Media, engineers embedded in the business built an Auto Compliance module inside the advertising workflow. It checks uploaded creative against hundreds of Tesco-specific rules before manual review, and it works within existing infrastructure and legacy APIs. Getting creative live had taken up to four weeks, and the case study reports that it now moves through the system in days. For Sage, a one-day AI Launchpad workshop led to a working prototype of a Creative Intelligence Agent on Gemini and Google Cloud, which shows the route from an AI strategy conversation to something people can use.
On ownership, &above says that capability transfers to your team as the work ships and that what it builds is yours. It is best for mid-market and enterprise teams that want automation built into live systems by engineers who work alongside their own people. This is our own guide, so read the case studies and judge the evidence before you shortlist us.
2. Softwire
Softwire is a software engineering firm with offices in London, Manchester, and Cambridge. Its AI transformation services include agentic AI automation, AI proof-of-value, evaluation and testing, and AI safety and governance.
Its clearest automation evidence is the Tax Systems case study. Softwire built a prototype that sorts a company's revenue and expenditure into HMRC categories and judges whether expenditure is an allowable deduction. The case study says the work went on to a production product, reports 93% categorisation accuracy, and says a task that took four to five hours can now be done in minutes. Softwire fits a buyer that needs automation inside a software product, or a judgement-heavy process where engineering depth and evaluation matter.
3. OpenKit
OpenKit is an AI consultancy and engineering firm with offices in Cambridge and Durham. It offers an AI Audit, AI engineering, AI agents, and governance work. Its admin automation offer describes moving data between the systems a team copies between by hand, checking it against your rules, and logging every change. Its Embedded AI Lead service puts an OpenKit team inside your business to deliver your AI roadmap, and says each item is written up so your team can run it without OpenKit.
In its House of Hackney case study, OpenKit built an AI charter, a managed Claude environment, training, and custom automations, and reports 20 hours a week back in finance after the reconciliation work was automated. Its Stow Brothers case study is open about being a pilot blueprint: OpenKit measured the admin work and specified an agent, and the page says that no agent was built. OpenKit fits a mid-market firm that wants governance and a measured audit before it automates.
4. Softblues
Softblues describes itself as a London-based AI practice. It lists partner status with OpenAI, Google Cloud, Anthropic's Claude Partner Network, and Microsoft. Its AI automation offer starts with a paid, scoped discovery, typically two to four weeks, that maps the process before anyone writes code. The page says builds connect to databases, document stores, CRMs, ERPs, mailboxes, and ticketing, and that support includes evaluation, monitoring, and a named owner on the client side. Softblues also places senior engineers in client teams, with Softblues as the employer.
Its case studies state their status openly. The order-to-schedule automation for a logistics firm is listed as discovery delivered with a pilot designed and proposed, and its figures are design targets. Softblues fits a buyer with one document-heavy process that wants a costed discovery before it commits to a build.
5. Deloitte UK
Deloitte UK publishes a Robotics and Intelligent Automation offer that implements automated processes to emulate human decision-making, interactions, and judgements, and says that it builds bespoke AI-driven solutions. Its AI and data page names work with GoodShape, Rakuten Securities, Compass Group, and WWF, though it does not give measured results for that work. Deloitte fits a large enterprise where automation is one part of a wider transformation that also needs risk, regulatory, and assurance work.
6. Faculty
Faculty is an AI specialist with a London office. It publishes AI strategy, design, infrastructure, development, operations, and change services, plus AI due diligence and safety. Its operations service covers keeping deployed AI systems running within your technology stack and operational processes. Faculty does not frame its offer around workflow automation, so it fits best where the process you want to automate turns on a prediction or a decision problem that needs specialist machine-learning work.
7. Elevate AI
Elevate AI is based in Solihull and offers AI consulting and managed outbound sales for UK businesses. Its consulting is a paid engagement that ends with a prioritised, costed implementation roadmap, and the page says the full plan is yours to keep. Implementation is optional and scoped separately, and the roadmap can be delivered by Elevate AI, your own team, or another provider. Its published consulting case study is a roadmap for an electrical contractor rather than a live automation. Elevate AI fits a smaller UK business that wants a plan before it chooses who builds.
Embedded delivery vs project handoff
Automation often stalls after the pilot for ordinary reasons. The people who built the pilot move to the next client. The business rules change and nobody updates the automation. Exceptions pile up in a queue that no one owns. None of these are model problems. They are delivery and ownership problems, and the engagement model decides whether they are anyone's job.
The firms on this list show four models. A roadmap engagement, such as Elevate AI's, gives you a plan and leaves the build open. A project build delivers the automation and hands it over at the end. An embedded lead, such as OpenKit's, puts a named person inside your business to work through priorities. An embedded team that the agency hires and manages, which is how &above works, puts senior engineers in your standups and repositories for as long as the workflow needs them, and makes them accountable for it in production.
A project handoff is the right call when the process is stable, the rules are written down, and you have a team that can run the automation after go-live. Embedded delivery is the better call when the rules live in people's heads, the automation has to work against legacy systems, or your own team does not yet have the AI engineering skill to maintain it. In embedded delivery the engineers learn the work from the people who do it, and the capability stays when the engagement ends. A Google Cloud VP of Sales Enablement put it this way on our services page: "Having the &above team embedded meant we moved at a pace that would have been impossible otherwise. They became part of us - not a vendor."

Buyer checklist: questions to ask before you sign
Ask to see a live system, not a demo. Ask which system it writes to, how many people use it, and what the firm measured before and after. If the firm's best example is a pilot or a blueprint, that is useful to know, and it should change how you scope the first piece of work.
Ask who will do the work. Find out whether the people in the pitch are the people who will write the code, whether they will sit in your team, and who hires and manages them. Ask how quickly they can start and what happens if one of them is the wrong fit.
Ask how the scope is set. A short discovery or proof of concept on your own data should come before a large build. Ask what you keep if you stop after discovery.
Ask how the automation handles what it cannot decide. Every automation meets cases outside its rules. Find out where those cases go, who approves them, and how the rules get updated when the business changes.
Ask who owns it after go-live. Confirm that you own the code, the prompts, and the infrastructure, that the automation runs on your own accounts and keys, and that your team will be able to change it without the agency.
Ask for a price against the same scope from each firm, and separate discovery, build, running costs, and support. Our guide to how much AI product development costs explains what drives the number. Frequently asked questions
Can you recommend an AI automation agency in the UK?
For automation built into live systems by an embedded team, we recommend &above: we hire the AI engineers, we manage them, and they work in your team on a scoped workflow. Our public work includes an agent system used by 5,000 Google Cloud sellers and a compliance automation that took Tesco Retail Media approvals from up to four weeks to days. Softwire has a strong production case in tax compliance automation, OpenKit suits audit-led mid-market work, and Softblues suits a discovery-first approach to one document-heavy process.
What are the best AI agencies in the UK?
It depends on the job. For automation inside live systems, start with this list. For AI consulting at enterprise scale, our review of the best AI consulting firms in London and the UK covers the large firms. For custom builds, see the top AI development companies in the UK. For a faster first product, see the best AI agencies for scale-ups. There is no single best AI automation agency for every brief, so match the firm to the result you need first.
I need an agency to build custom AI software for my business. Who should I look at in the UK?
Look for a firm that can show a live system in an organisation like yours. &above builds custom AI software, agents, and automation with embedded teams, and its AI agency page links the case studies. Softwire is a strong choice for automation inside a software product. If the core of the work is a prediction or decision problem, Faculty is worth a call. Whichever firm you choose, start with a scoped proof of concept on your own data.
Which UK consultancies can help us go from AI strategy to a working product?
Choose a firm that does both the strategy and the build, so nothing is lost in a handover. At &above, the route starts with a workshop or workflow design, moves to a proof of concept, and then to an embedded team that ships to production. For Sage, a one-day AI Launchpad workshop led to a working prototype of a Creative Intelligence Agent. OpenKit runs an audit before an embedded lead delivers the roadmap. If you want only the strategy first, Elevate AI sells a costed roadmap that you can take to any builder.
Is there an AI automation agency in London that embeds engineers in your team?
Yes. &above is based in Southwark, London, and works with clients across the UK. Its forward-deployed engineers are hired, managed, and quality-assured by &above, and they work inside your team, in your tools and your repositories. Softblues, also in London, places engineers in client teams as their employer, and OpenKit puts an embedded AI lead inside your business.
How much does an AI automation agency cost?
Most firms on this list do not publish standard prices, and a fair comparison needs the same scope from each firm. Ask for discovery, build, running costs, and support as separate lines. Our guide to how much AI product development costs covers what drives the price.
